Lanhydrock Hotel: 6/12/08
I had to do two gigs in the same place (Lanhydrock hotel), one gig was on the top floor while the second was on the ground floor. The top floor was for a wedding that had about 40+ people while the bottom floor gig with about 80+ people was a Christmas party for a various companies that had booked the place for that night. We set everything up the day before to save us some time and just in case anything went wrong but thankfully nothing did (as usual). On the bottom floor, the first thing we had to do was just put on some background music while the company had a meal and then when they were all finished we would have to start the actual show. The top floor had the same kind of thing, starting with background music and then starting the show, the background music was provided by one of the people at the party.
Once the top floor had their meal it was time to start the show, as soon as the music started to go most people were up on the floor just dancing like crazy. As for downstairs it was the same, once the company finished their meal in the other room they came through and started to dance right away on the dance floor. Downstairs had more equipment so there was better lights along with a smoke machine just to make the overall effect look better.
While the downstairs show was being played, we had various people come up to us requesting certain songs (which we had) and complimenting us on the job. Upstairs was going very well also, at various points we had the dad come up and take the microphone to shout out messages and even do an auction, after that, the married couple cut the cake (at which point we played the song congratulations), we were also getting a ton of song requests and compliments upstairs.
Once the party had finished upstairs, random people from that party had joined the downstairs one which still had loads of people dancing on the dance floor. While we were playing music, the people at the party were doing certain dances to certain songs like doing the YMCA to the village people and doing the Macarena to the Macarena song. As people were leaving and we started to pack up, people were still giving compliments and saying thanks for everything we done in the show, more happy people from another two great shows!
